On Tuesday I got a text from MaryAnn saying “I am sending your preliminary event orders for the Reception and Dinner…are you ready?” I replied that I was born ready, I really couldn’t wait to get the last portion of our billing out of the way and just be able to stop stressing about money and just enjoy the last two months of planning and this process. Once the documents came through I quickly began to look them over. It was funny to see the contracts in Delphi because I too use Delphi at work, so to have my own BEO number for our wedding was pretty awesome. I couldn’t believe I was going over a banquet order for my OWN wedding and everything looked great until I got to the totals.

It seemed that we were somewhat over spent (now I know this happens especially for weddings but it really wasn’t an option for us). Needless to say I went from overly excited to extremely stressed in 2.5 seconds. I did the math several times until I finally gave up and texted Colt in a panic. When he finally texted back he assured me not to worry and we would look at it together (little did he know the impeding doom had already sunk in). Later that night after a great dinner with Joe, Eric and Anu we got home and started crunching numbers. After a few times Colt finally announced that it was true we were in the red, I was so crushed. We had been working so hard and busting our asses and somehow it still wasn’t good enough I felt defeated. I came in the room and laid down I needed to process but it only took a moment before Colt was at the door. He had his game face on and I knew I was about to get hit by Mr. Positive Pants and I was not in the mood. He of course had everything figured out and a 7 week game plan, he was going to do everything in his power to make it happen and all I had to do is not stress (he hates when I stress). His enthusiasm was contagious and I knew when he bent down to kiss me he meant every word. He made me say out loud “we got this” and put our hands in, it was a family pep talk and it was a good one I went to bed smiling.

The next day I took a poop (that was Colt wanting to write a sentence, he was feeling neglected by my blogging). Anyways, I woke up still feeling better but still stressed, I decided I’d email Maryann to go over things line by line but as I was on my way to work and gathering my day my mom called. We have so much going on right now in our family between the 4 of us so it’s just been non stop everyday. I am so grateful that even with our busy schedules and crazy lives we all still always drop everything to make time to be there for each other. It was nice just to have her listen. She told me how proud she was of Colt & I and of how hard we had been working to make our dream a reality. She told me that her & my Dad would help in anyway they could, it was such a sweet and generous offer and suddenly between her and Colt’s encouragement I could breathe.

Today we had an appointment with our doctor about Thailand. We knew we needed shots so we wouldn’t risk getting sick on our honeymoon so we scheduled it together. It was another one of our “firsts” as a couple which made it extra fun. It was so weird being in the doctors office side by side and it showed me a true glimpse of married life to come. Dr. Kepler was awesome and walked us through everything. He pulled up all the information online and let us pick which vaccinations would be most beneficial to us on our trip. We opted for the biggies and the one for rabbies. We actually weren’t even going to get the rabbies one but then he told us a story about a patient he had seen earlier in the week who had been traveling and got attacked and bit on her back by a monkey, I guess anything is possible. Needless to say 2 hours & $220.00 later we were fully doped up with 2 extremely achey arms and ready for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, paratyphoid fever & Malaria ….Thailand bring it on!
